Rick Steber, acclaimed Western author and personality, will launch a new Author Afternoon series at the Des Chutes Historical Museum on Saturday, December 15 at 1:00. Author Afternoons, made possible through a generous grant from the Oregon Council for the Humanities, will run from December 2007 through November 2008 featuring authors discussing their love of writing. The series is open and free to the public.
Rick Steber is an award-winning author with thirty titles under his belt and more than a million books in print. He is a keen observer of the changing American West and articulates these changes in prose as invigorating, creative, sharp and deadly as a chunk of obsidian. His latest novel, Forty Candles on a Cowboy Cake, continues in that tradition, casting a spotlight on the ongoing conflict in Central and Eastern Oregon between making a living from the land and population explosion and development.
