Central Oregon Community College welcomes all readers and writers to COCC Word Café 9, an evening of literary readings. The event features three central
Oregon writers, including COCC writing instructor Hilda Beltran, fiction writer and poet Don Kunz, and fiction writer Suzanne Burns. Kunz won two awards for poetry from the Oregon State Poetry Association in 2006. Burns is the author of a book of poems, The Flesh Procession, which was a finalist for the 2005 Fore Word Book of the Year.
Word Café 9 begins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10th in the Reading Room, upstairs in the COCC Campus Library. Ellen Santasiero, Scholar in Residence at COCC, will host the event.
An open mic in the second half of the evening offers other writers—beginning or experienced—an opportunity to read their own works of fiction, nonfiction or poetry. Questions and conversation are welcomed over coffee and cookies. The event is free.
